This morning, our grade learned in chaburot with the Yeshiva University Torah Mitzion Beit Midrash Zichron Dov avreichim. We learned about stealing knowledge and good-will, including some of the relevant cases. We asked the question: if one were to attend an event for reasons other than what their friend believes, is it considered deceiving a person? There are two answers: one source says yes and the other says it’s better to keep the peace. We follow the Shulchan Aruch which says that we should not say anything.
