The grade 11 and 12 boys broke off into the Beit Midrash to hear Rabbi Strauchler, Rabbi of Shaarei Shomayim, speak. He spoke mostly about his recent travels through Israel with Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and ended off the evening with a short story about emunah. It was all in all a truly an enjoyable mishmar, and I look forward to future opportunities to hear Rabbi Strauchler again.

The grade 9s and 10s heard from Rabbi Rosenberg, Executive Director of Mizrachi Canada. The talked focused on a mishna in Pirkei Avot that says (paraphrased), you should find a study partner and make him your friend. He then went and said that the ideal friendship is one were you strive towards a common goal and help each other in it, as well you must support your friend always even to the point of discomfort to yourself. The final message was: finding a good friend and keeping him is an essential part of living.
