At this week’s mishmar, we were joined by several alumni for a learning program led by Rabbi Aaron Greenberg of JLIC. We started with a scenario: someone goes to a store, not planning to buy an electronic item, uses the salesperson’s time, without planning on buying anything from the store. The question is: is this type of behaviour allowed? The term, Onaat Dvarim, refers to wasting other’s time – perhaps even embarrassing a person. We also discussed the ethics that we learn at Or Chaim from studying Talmud. Overall, this was a wonderful program with a valuable lesson to learn.
