During Chol Homoed, Or Chaim held the Simchat Beit Hashoeva celebration. The evening began with a nice meal of pizza and other snacks. The school band performed many songs which the students and staff danced to. We heard Rabbi Goldberg and Ezra Schwartz (’11) give great divrei torah pertaining to the simcha that is Simchat Beit Hashoeva.
After the celebration ended, many of the students stayed to take part in the custom of learning Erev Hoshana Rabba. We had a choice of chaburot to start. I chose the one discussing a case where someone is snoring in a sukkah containing multiple people. At the end of the learning program, Rabbis Mazer and Spitz enlightened us on the halachic challenges to “The Shabbos App.” Thank you as well to Rabbi Gutenberg, Rabbi Rosenzweig and Rabbi Grundland of the Yeshiva University Torah Mitzion Beit Midrash Zichron Dov, for leading Chaburot.
