YOC’s administration, student council and grade reps launched “The Or Chaim House System” this past Thursday. Similar in concept to the Harry Potter novels’ house system, this initiative can be an integral part of school life and can potentially provide many avenues for students to develop leadership and greater involvement in school life. Our school has been divided into three teams based on Israeli army units, each with a colour, motto and logo. The teams are Golani, Givati and Tzanchanim. Activities, both academic and athletic, are being planned and will continue throughout the year, with a culminating banquet to announce the winning house at the end of the year.
Team captains, announced at Thursday morning’s surprise assembly, are: Josh Mayer, Ezra Berman and Nadav Gasner; Daniel Edery, Aaron Rosenfeld and Meir Dalfen who are our vice-captains. Each team has both a Judaic and General studies faculty advisor. This programming be overseen by Mrs Kagan, Mr Lazar and Mr Skarott. The exciting “break-out” video was created by Ben Gross. Congratulations to the Golani team on winning the first event!
