All students in both schools delivered speeches in their English classes; two representatives per grade were voting into Thursday evening’s Finals. Attendees were treated to an evening of thought-provoking, interesting, fun speeches. Topics included social media, life with ADHD, studying Shakespeare in today’s world, women’s human rights issues in the middle east and the problems with fairy tales and disney.
After lengthy deliberations from our judges, we had a tie for third place – Adina Weitzner and Kayla Shainhouse; second place was Coby Lyons; and first place – Noam Karakowsky.
The audience had a chance to voice their opinions too, texting in the People’s choice winners: Ilan Shields and Noam Karakowsky.
Thank you to Mrs. Thompson for arranging the evening.
Thank you to our judges: Mr. Teversham, Mrs. Pertman, Rebecca Ihilchik (’10) and Yaakov Green (’12).
