Ulpana’s Grade 10s, under the guidance of Atara Shtul and Mrs. Sonenberg, led a beautiful program. As students entered the shul, names of fallen soldiers were read out. The assembly focused on different stories of people who have been affected by tragic loss in Israel. One of the stories was told through silent dramatic movement while music was played in the background. Rabbi Grauer each spoke about the juxtaposition of Yom Hazikaron and Yom Haatzmaut. The girls appreciated hearing about Rabbi Spitz’s personal experiences. The choir sang and the entire school joined for hatikva.

Under the guidance of Rabbi Mazer, the grade 10s led the Or Chaim’s Yom Hazikaron programming. The program began in classes with workshops: students presented on a different group within the Israeli army and focused on an individual from that group. Classes then compiled a poster board to present to the rest of the school. The grade 10s also created facebook and instagram pages, posting biographies of different fallen soldiers. Rabbi Mazer recited a Kel Male and the program closed with Hatikva.
