IMG_0340_aLast Sunday and Monday the grade 9 students had the amazing opportunity to go on a retreat to Kinark Outdoor Centre (link to www.koc.on.ca/). The reason for this trip was to get the girls to meet each other and to bond with one another. Every year the girls have an amazing time and create new bonds with their fellow classmates. This year’s retreat turned out to be a wonderful experience.

The girls were split up into two groups and did trust exercises, high ropes, low ropes, archery, and a hike. Each group did different activities each day and enjoyed themselves. In the beginning everything seemed so simple. For example, the low ropes. When you first saw it it looked like two thick wires tied onto a tree. All you had to do was pick a partner about the same height as you and work together to get across. It sounded easy, until you actually had to do it. As you stepped on the ropes, they started to shake like crazy, you lost your balance every time you would move, and you would fall off. In order to get across you had to work with your partner, hold your partner, and you had to be focused at all times. This activity really helped us make new friends and experience things we never thought we would do.

At the end of the trip, everyone got together in the dining hall and we all went around a circle saying what we were thankful for. Some girls said thank you to their parents, or some said thank you to their friends and family. But together as a whole we were all thankful for each other and having the chance to enjoy this trip together.

Thank you everyone who came on this trip to help and thank you for making this trip happen.
