Students from both UO and YOC took time out of their Sukkot vacation to attend Free the Children’s Me to We Day. Over the course of the day, they learned about challenges facing youth around the world – and potential solutions they can get involved in. From small fundraising ideas to the power of social media, students were encouraged to use a variety of tools to do their part in helping others in need. They heard about overcoming challenges – from Marlee Matlin, an academy-award winning actress who was told she’d never make a career in the field, as well as Henry Winkler, who was diagnosed with dyslexia only as an adult. They were also impressed with many of the teens who presented about what they had achieved in their schools and their communities. Thank you Mr. Graham, Mrs. Green and Mr. Lazar for chaperoning.
