I think it is fair to say that father-daughter learning was an enriching experience; I gained a lot by being there. Aside from the pleasure of eating dinner and learning with our fathers, this year’s evening stood out because of the powerful presentation. After Mr. Ganz spoke movingly about his mother and shared a powerful story, we heard from Mr. Kleinberg who touched us with his unbelievable story of survival and revival through the worst conditions imaginable. He described his experiences in the ghetto, concentration camps, death camps, liberation and we heard his story of being saved by a woman who later became his wife. Through sources and through his talk we learned that saving one life is really saving the world. We also owe our thanks to Rabbi Kleinberg for arranging the evening, which was generously sponsorted by the Ganz family in memory of Talia’s grandmother, Mrs. Rachmie (Julie) Ganz, רחמה בת יצחק.
