Pulling into the resort for Ulpana’s Shabbaton 2015, there was a rush of excitement. The seniors were awaiting us, and from the buses we went straight to get our sweatshirts and had a massive dance party. The feeling of one mishpacha and tremendous ruach began. Throughout the whole Shabbaton everyone felt closer with each other, which was ultimately reflected during the chumzits when students told stories about their experiences at Ulpana. When leaving the Shabbaton, my only thoughts were “I can’t wait for next year’s Shabbaton!”

Imagine spending Shabbat with 105 of your best friends, your mishpacha – that is exactly what Shabbaton 2016 was all about. The endless dancing, singing, and ruach really displayed what our school is about. We brought in the Shabbat with a beautiful Kabalat Shabbat led by our very own rabbis, heard amazing stories from our guest speaker Rivka Abbe and had all-around bonding with teachers and our peers. Our Candyland themed Saturday night melava malka was one that I will never forget. We ended the shabbaton with a kumzitz around candles, where we sang, told stories and cried over our love for Ulpana. As a senior I can say that I’m happy this was my last Shabbaton because I don’t think any year can top this!
