This Chanuka, we will be sharing brief divrei Torah and thoughts about Chanuka just prior to the times for lighting candles each night. We hope these messages help stimulate conversation and encourage discussion throughout the Chag.

“Timing is key” I was told by my parents in relation to central moments of life.

Chanukah taking place in Kislev, during the darkest, longest nights of the calendar year is also key.
Why?
We all yearn to feel happy in our connection with Torah and mitzvot.
Why do we fail?
We often see darkness as a struggle to overcome.
On Chanukah, we light the night (by lighting our Chanukiyot at night), and change our mindset of night from being a struggle that needs to be overcome to an opportunity that needs to be seized!
That ability to change our mindset of the night during the time we light candles is key.
“Timing really is key”
May we view our struggles as our opportunities.
