Ulpana students started their Yom Haatzmaut program at Dave and Buster’s. Following fun activities there, they returned to Ulpana for all-night Israeli-themed programming. In the early hours of the morning, they cheered on Atara Kelman, livestreamed from the Chidon HaTanach International competition in Israel. We’re so proud of Atara for making it to the final round in the always-competitive Chidon! The evening finished with Rav Yair leading a special vatikin minyan. Thank you to YOC students and alumni who helped ensure there was a minyan.
YOC’s program began with Shacharit, led by YOCapella. Students were then addressed by Rav Jeremy Gimpel, Deputy Director of the World Mizrachi Movement and presenter of the “Israel Inspired” youtube podcast. Click here to view Rav Gimpel’s address. Following a delicious breakfast, students participated in four rotations: a heated Israel-related debate with Rav Gimpel, Rabbi Mazer, Jonny Lipczer and Mr. Kurtz; bubble soccer; hummus making with Ishay; and stratego capture the flag with Daniel Jehuda. The program concluded with an Israeli Mangal.
